His lyrics are very relatable and his songs are very pleasant to the ears. The soulful It Takes A Man speaks to the listener on a very personal level as Lines is actually a brilliant storyteller, which is a big plus for a country singer. The upbeat Lights of my Hometown is another stellar song and so is the John Denver/James Taylor-esque album closer If I Could Do It All Again. That track would be so perfect in a movie.
On “Waitin’ on the Wonderful” the lyrics aren’t as cliché as they might have been on the former albums, yet he doesn’t lose is relatability. In fact, he might be more accessible and connectable on this new album and his music feels even more genuine. One of the very best young country/pop stars of the last 5 years if you ask me, and “Waitin’ on the Wonderful” is an album that gives credit to that statement.
