Q: Hello Cordless, how are you guys today?
A: Hey man! We’re doing great these days!
Q: Can you give a short introduction of who you are?
A: We are Cordless, a Modern-Rock/Pop Band from Germany! Its Tim Fischer/Singer – Tim Dechent/Guitars – Sebastian Rettig/Bass – Simon Diefenbach/Drums and Christian Leist/Piano,Organ
Q: The name Cordless, where does it come from?
A: We started as a band with the name Cord but this name already existed in four or five other bands and we wanted to have something special, we started an internet-choosing with our fans and Cordless is what came out! So it’s very special because our name is something the fans decided with us together!
Q: Who would you say are the biggest influences on your song writing, and style of music?
A: This is a good question! There are so much influences. I think for everyone in the band there are other influences, for me (Tim D.) lately, it’s a lot of Kyle Cook the guitarist of Matchbox20!
Q: You guys made an EP a little while ago and are about to release your official debut album. Excited?
A: Yes we’re burning for it! We finished all the recordings and now we’re searching for sponsors to finish the album because we are unsigned. It’s a long and hard progress but we are very excited how the people react to this album. That’s the main thing for a musician, to see how people react to your music and to move their emotions with it.
Q: Can you tell us something about the upcoming release?
A: On this cd there are some of the best songs we’ve ever written together and it’s breathtaking to see how it all ends up in the end, into a song. You know, it means close to everything to us to let this record out into this world
Q: Does the album title “Bright Lights” have a significant meaning?
A: Yes! We all have so much different experiences in our life. There is love, there is pain, succes, family and so on and everything is a part of us, everything is something of a Light that leads us in our life. Like a lifeline. And that’s what “Bright Lights” means, it’s an emotional album. There are minutes to dance but also songs to cry for. This ablum includes our personal bright lights in life and maybe the people out here can find something in the songs too!
Q: When the album will be released, where can people go to get a copy?
A: We will sent it to all the record labels in germany and hopefully get signed soon! But we can also say now that it will be up on Itunes America soon! So all of our American fans can enjoy the music too!
Q: You guys are starting to make a name locally, and through online communities even globally. How are you experiencing this?
A: I think the internet is the most important thing for a band today! You can stay in touch with your fans on Myspace and could get more fans all over the world! That’s amazing! I discovered for example Colbie Caillat on Myspace for about 4 months and now she is played on German radio. Without the internet such stories would never be written! (Tim D.)
Q: What are your goals currently and how are you trying to achieve those goals?
A: We want to show our music to the world! We live for that and we’re doing anything that’s possible to let our fanbase grow
Q: What lyrics that you wrote, are you guys most proud of?
A: It’s hard, you know, every single lyric means something to the artist who wrote it. But these times I must say that I love “Welcome Home” because the instrumentalisation shows all the emotions I wanna give into this song. Find out what it means by yourself ;)
Q: If you could pick only one band to tour with, who would it be?
A: Something really big! :D haha world tour with U2 or the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Lifehouse would be great too!
Q: You guys are asked to contribute to a cover project, what song would you want to do a cover of?
A: (Tim D.): Something older! Maybe a cover of Elton John‘s “Tiny Dancer”! Oh I love this song. (click here to hear a clip of “Tiny Dancer”)
Q: What website can we go to if we want to get more information about Cordless?
A: Our mainpage is under construction, so go on to www.myspace.com/cordless and become a friend of us.
Q: Okay a few random questions now.
Q: Day or night?
A: Evening show with a beautiful backlight in the summer
Q: Club venue or arena venue?
A: Both can be intensive and touchfully
Q: CDs or digital music?
A: CDs! You know, it’s good to have digital music to sell your stuff worldwide but we wanna have a beautiful layout and stuff
Q: Okay, final question. What are your thoughts on people downloading music, both legally & illegally?
A: Legally it’s really good because the most artist don’t have a management to sell their stuff worldwide! Illegally it’s a problem of the industry. I think if the cds were not so expensive, the sales would rise again but you can’t change this as an artist
Thanks Cordless, it’s been a pleasure talking to you guys.
