Chicago singer/songwriter Ben Kramer is changing gears. Last year he released two promising EPs but 2015 brings a change of pace. Instead of releasing records, Kramer decided to release a new song every month. On the 15th day of the month, to be precise. In July he releases a song called "California" which you can listen to below. Check out Ben Kramer's website and listen to this pleasant new song. And remember, you get a new treat every month!
Jay Nash & Josh Day, better known as The Contenders are currently touring the USA to promote their upcoming debut as a band. In our interview with Jay you can read a little bit about the emergence of this record. At this point in time, The Contenders have made a new home on Facebook which allows you to follow their adventures and keep up to date with their touring and the release of the record. Listen to The Contender and Lincoln 1958 below: Hailing from the southern parts of The Netherlands, rock band LEFT is on the verge of saying goodbye to their fans. The band, who have a stellar live reputation and are well respected in the local and national circuit, are in the midst of their farewell tour which will end in their hometown of Eindhoven on December 23, 2014. If you live nearby or have a chance to catch one of their final shows, you should go. This is one of the purest rock bands in the country and their live shows are unrivaled. On the decision to bring LEFT to an end after 2014, the band said the following: Recently we decided to call it quits after more than 10 years. This may seem surprising since we released a new record this year but it isn't really. Every year we ask ourselves if we can see ourselves grow further, whether artistically or playing live. Our latest release "Any Other Way" is where we peak. We gave it our all. Twin Cities native Jeremy Messersmith and his touring companions will make their Late Show debut on August 20th, 2014. America (and the world) will find out why this is one of the best musical acts you haven't yet heard of. Tune in to Late Show with David Letterman on CBS on August 20, 2014 or set your DVRs. You will thank me later. Cloudmachine wins IMA for best rock/indie album The annual Independent Music Awards are a prestigious award for bands and artists recognized for their ability to be exceptional within their field. This, of course, is a relative term but it also defines something as being really, really, really good. So this term shouldn’t be used lightly. In the case of Cloudmachine, a Dutch band centered around singer and main composer Ruud Houweling, this term is not applied without merit. Cloudmachine isn’t easily defined as a rock band, pop band, alternative band or any other (sub)genre. They manage to walk the tightrope between these archaic labels. Both sonically and lyrically the band mixes flavors in a way only great artists have done before them. Cloudmachine’s music has the ability to grab you as a listener and pull you in. With clever arrangements and poetic imagery, the songs paint a picture in your mind. When you open yourself up, Cloudmachine will take you somewhere with their songs. This is an example of being exceptional as an artist and this is why this award is well deserved. Check out Cloudmachine’s latest album, A Gentle Sting. For more information on the band and their music, visit their website. There are singers with great vocals, there are singers with unique vocals and there are singers with special vocals. Once in a while you come across a singer who combines those qualities. That’s when you know you are listening to something special. Lisa Redford certainly is something special. Having released a number of excellent albums in previous years it is time for a new EP called “Reminders”. The heartfelt lyrics are brought to life by Lisa’s warm vocals and her crafty songwriting. One of her trademarks is that the songs have a certain familiarity to it. On “Reminders” she addresses the dreams, hopes, challenges and struggles that we all can relate to in one way or another. Recorded in NYC and produced by Jeff Hill. After three strong full-length releases that got very positive reviews all over the board, this new EP is the next chapter in Lisa Redford’s musical journey. Watch the video below for a little teaser and be sure to keep an eye on Lisa’s website and Inner Ear Media for more news about the release and more! Long time Inner Ear Media favorite, John Taglieri is working on another musical endeavor. His latest release, under the TAG-moniker, was a reworking of older songs and some fresh additions called Foreward. Currently John and his musical co-conspirators are working on a new release called Lucky #9. For those of you who know about John and his extensive list of accomplishments as an independent musician, it won’t come as a surprise that luck doesn’t have too much to do with it. Time after time John Taglieri / TAG releases have been solid releases with catchy, modern rock-influenced pop songs with a certain edge. The keywords to describe the music would be energetic, passionate and full of life, which you could say is a reflection of John’s personality. And this is why his songs always come across. The songs have an honesty and believability to them that adds to their quality.
The first track for Lucky #9 is currently finished and upon first listen, the song has the familiar Taglieri-sound, perhaps with a little more depth in the musical arrangement compared to the songs on the previous TAG release. John’s ability to dive right into a song and bring on all his passion and energy comes out very effectively in Losing Me. One of IEM’s favorite artists, JJ Appleton was picked to compete in the final contest to be the opener for Bowling For Soup during several UK gigs. We would like to ask you 30 seconds of your time to give him your vote in this poll.
Vote Here Personally I would be very happy and grateful if you wouldn’t mind to cast that vote in favor of JJ Appleton, cause it would give me a good excuse for a short UK trip, and I know JJ will be very grateful too! Thanks |
