Q: Hey guys, what’s up, how’s it going?
A: Fine, just trying to keep busy
Q: Can you give us a short introduction of who Fenix Tx are?
A: My name is Will and the band is called Fenix Tx. We were all originally from Houston, TX. Then we moved to Southern California. Then we broke up and everyone is doing something else and every now and then we get together and play some shows.
Q: You guys reunited and released a live album a few years back. Is there anything new coming up in the (near) future?
A: I have been writing a lot of new material, I don’t know if it will end up being something for Fenix Tx or for my other band Denver Harbor or for something entirely new but writing none the less. Every time Fenix gets together we always end up playing around with new music but haven’t had a chance to record anything yet
Q: In the time Fenix Tx was disbanded, part of the band formed Denver Harbor, and released an album (Scenic). What was the biggest difference, musically, between Fenix Tx & Denver Harbor?
A: Not a whole lot really I was still the major song writer for the band but it just seemed that with a different rhythm section I was able to get into some different styles of music.
Q: Is there any chance there will be another Denver Harbor release in the future?
A: It is very possible
Q: You guys had a really successful run in the early years of this decade. How has the response been since you reunited?
A: All of the old fans have been so supportive and it seems like they are still as into it as they were back then.
Q: Who would you say are the greatest inluences on your sound and songwriting?
A: I like so many bands and song writers that it would be impossible to mention them all. I always go through song writing phases it seems. So whatever I am listening to always seems make its way into my music.
Q: If you could play a show anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?
A: I would want to go to a country that I have never been to before and there are a lot.
Q: And if you could also pick someone to play that gig with, who would it be?
A: Alive maybe the Foo Fighters. Dead maybe the old Led Zepplin.
Q: What is the craziest thing that you guys have ever experienced on tour?
A: I think mushroom laced chocolate in Japan was the most fun I have ever had on tour.
Q: If there’s one thing you could change in the music industry, what would you change?
A: A&R Reps that have no clue of what good music is.
Q: What is the best thing about being a musician, and what is the worst thing?
A: The best thing is being able to always do what you love to do no matter what else might be going on in your life. The worst thing is not making enough money to only be able to do what you love to do.
Q: Where can we find more information about FenixTx and Denver Harbor?
A: www.myspace.com/fenixtx and www.myspace.com/denverharbor
Q: Okay a few random questions now.
Q: The Clash, Sex Pistols, or Ramones?
A: I like them all for different reasons I think Sex Pistols would be the last of the three that I would listen to.
Q: Day or night?
A: Night
Q: Club venue or arena venue?
A: Club
Q: CDs or digital music?
A: CDs
Q: Okay, final question. What are your thoughts on people downloading music, both legally & illegally?
A: More power to the people. and thanks for the interview.
