Matt Hires @ Paradise Rock Club
April 8, 2010 – Boston, MA
After seeing Matt Hires play at Cafe 939 back in January with former American Idol contestant Jason Castro, I checked out Matt’s debut full-length CD, Take Us To The Start. I soon began listening to this record quite often. It has a mellow rock sound similar to Mat Kearney or Tyrone Wells. Matt has a unique voice, but could be compared to Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows. There are no tracks to skip on the album – every song is distinct and enjoyable.
When I saw that Matt would be coming back to Boston on tour with Will Hoge and needtobreathe, I made sure I was there. This time Matt played solo with just an acoustic guitar, but he was still able to captivate his audience. He had us whistling along to his song “Out of the Dark” and even threw in a cover song.
Check out some photos from Matt’s performance here.
