The melodic guitar pop is mixed with genuine singer/songwriter qualities and Soldaat sounds stronger and more consistent than ever before. Vocally and lyrically he has grown into a force to reckon with. His songwriting and guitar playing were already on the highest level, but on “In Another Life” all the aspects seem to have come together.
The album sometimes even reminds of greats like Neil Young and Brian Wilson and covers a wide array of wonderful musical compositions. The highlights on this album are Born To Perform and Going South, as well as the beautiful duet with Christy Hindenlang, Pillow Talk.
Anne Soldaat’s reputation as one of the geniuses of Dutch pop music will be solidified with “In Another Life”. The album is filled with passionately performed songs that can lean on excellent songwriting and personal, introspective, relatable lyrics. There are no real weak songs on this album and Soldaat shows that even experienced musicians are able to learn and grow and become even better than they already were.
