Songs like I Believe, the album opener rely too much on their drive and energy without ever really connecting with the listener. There's energy but no real tension or intensity that builds up. December is a song with immense live potential but on the record, the song drowns a little too much in its own sound. The balance on Black & White and Things You Say is much better. Especially Things You Say really manages to connect to the listener through its build up and intensity. Black & White is a high-octane thriller of a song that really fires you up and remains relatively catchy. No doubt this could become a live favorite.
Torn Inside is a very catchy tune but a little safe and 'middle of the road'. It doesn't leave your head for the next few hours though, so it is extremely effective in that aspect. Compromise, which closes out the EP holds a certain tension that can be felt throughout the song. Everytime I listen to it, the songs seems to get better as it carries on.
"Lost For Words" is raw and a little messy. But it's a pretty good EP that finds the border between pop-rock and edgy alternative music. An abundance of talent that should grow with experience. "Lost For Words" isn't likely to make many "best of the year" lists but Acceptance's next release may very well end up being in that category if they are able to evolve and finetune their sound and performance.
