Amy Kuney

Mostly catchy pop tunes that make you feel good with lyrics about life and love and a sound that is perfect for the spring and summer. Kuney’s warm and sweet vocals are perfect to bring a lot of feeling to the songs.
The album isn’t groundbreaking or anything but it is solid. The songs are pretty well-written and Kuney’s convincing performance makes her stand strong among her peers like Kate Earl, Kate Voegele, Amy MacDonald, etc.
The infectious Simple Things is a good start for the album, which is followed up with the funny Rocket Surgery. There is a slight resemblance with Lily Allen and the likes in the fun, upbeat sound of the song, but I actually like this better.
Amy Kuney doesn’t try to force the songs but just writes and performs the songs naturally which makes them come out very well and the album is filled with pleasant pop songs like that. Apart from Rocket Surgery, the highlights are Thank You For Last Night, the single Love Is Trippy and very interesting Time Machine. The album ends with a very solid cover of Damien Rice’s The Blower’s Daughter.
Amy Kuney is a talented young singer & songwriter and “Bird’s Eye View” is an album that deserves notion. I don’t think it’s enough to provide her breakthrough just yet, but it should provide a good start for her. There is promise in the songwriting and in the music. Vocally, Kuney has a very recognizable sound and the songs are fit for radio. With the right promotion and personal drive there is no reason why she wouldn’t succeed.
